O.PEN / FIREFLY / DISTRICT EDIBLES

Slang Worldwide is the industry leader in cannabis consumer packaged goods. They brought me on to visualize their product line.

I used the models to animate marketing and instructional videos that also incorporated 2D graphics.

3D MoDELING

CAD files can have limitations for rendering and animation, and sometimes they simply aren’t available. I modeled the O.pen product and packaging from scratch using all quads and subdivision surface techniques.

FROM DIELINE TO MODEL

Modeling the product packaging started with the print dieline that was used by District’s internal design team to design the package art. It also provided the blueprint for the model, which I folded as part of the modeling process.

PRODUCT LINE TOOLKIT

The internal design team at District Edibles wanted to be able to render different flavor labels and product angles in house. I transferred the model and materials to Adobe Stager (formerly Dimension), which met those needs without anyone in house needing to become a 3D expert. I provided a Photoshop template for the label art, and placement on the box was automatic based on provided UVs. They only needed to drop the artwork in the template and hit render, from any desired angle.
